As winter temperatures dropped below freezing following several snowfalls in Weihai this January, production activities inside Shandong Future Robot’s manufacturing facility remained in full swing. Across multiple production lines, teams worked efficiently and systematically to support the delivery of several major projects awarded by CNOOC and China Southern Power Grid, ensuring that large work-class ROVs, chain trenching robots, and critical supporting components are delivered on schedule.

Full-Speed Production for Strategic Offshore Projects

Entering the final assembly workshop, the sound of operating machinery blends with the coordinated communication of engineers and technicians. In the ROV assembly area, workers are carefully assembling a customized heavy-duty ROV system designed for CNOOC while simultaneously conducting calibration and testing of its associated Tether Management System (TMS) to ensure safe and reliable operation in deep-water environments.

Designed for operations at depths of up to 3,500 meters, the ROV is specifically developed for offshore oil and gas emergency response missions. The system is capable of performing critical tasks including subsea wellhead inspection, positioning surveys, obstacle removal, and underwater intervention operations.

Chain Trencher Supports Major Submarine Cable Installation Project

Activity is equally intense in the chain trencher production area, where teams are assembling one of the core pieces of equipment for a major submarine power cable installation project awarded by China Southern Power Grid.

Designed to address the challenging seabed conditions of the Qiongzhou Strait, Beibu Gulf, and other offshore regions, the trenching system combines high power, precision control, and modular design to support long-distance submarine cable burial operations.

Nearby, engineers are conducting performance tests on a seven-function hydraulic manipulator arm. Driven by a hydraulic system, the manipulator provides seven degrees of freedom, enabling precise underwater operations and enhancing the operational capabilities of future ROV platforms.

Strict Quality Control Throughout the Manufacturing Process

According to the production management team, these projects are closely linked to China’s offshore energy security and regional power infrastructure development. Every piece of equipment must pass nearly one hundred rigorous inspections and verification procedures before delivery.

To ensure all projects are completed according to schedule, Shandong Future Robot entered full-scale production mode immediately after the New Year holiday.
