In 2025, VVLAI successfully deployed its independently developed VY150 Work-Class ROV to support a comprehensive underwater operation program in the South China Sea oil and gas region.
The project involved subsea hazard assessment, geological risk investigation, underwater equipment installation, and routine operation and maintenance services. Working in a complex offshore oil and gas environment, the VY150 provided critical support for geological surveying, risk monitoring, asset inspection, equipment maintenance, and underwater intervention tasks, helping ensure the safe, stable, and long-term operation of subsea production systems.
The operational area was characterized by highly concentrated shallow gas deposits and fragile geological formations. These conditions increased the risk of gas seepage and seabed instability, requiring highly reliable equipment capable of operating safely in sensitive environments.
Due to unstable geological conditions and subsea hazards, conventional large-scale construction equipment could not safely access many operational areas. Precision intervention equipment was required to perform inspection and maintenance tasks without disturbing the surrounding environment.
The oil and gas field contained an extensive network of subsea pipelines, production support equipment, and monitoring sensors distributed across a wide area. Maintaining asset integrity required continuous monitoring, frequent inspections, and rapid response capabilities, placing high demands on equipment reliability and endurance.
The project combined risk assessment, underwater installation, inspection, maintenance, and operational support into a unified subsea service program, providing full lifecycle support for offshore oil and gas infrastructure.
The VY150 enabled 24/7 monitoring of geological and environmental conditions, supporting proactive risk identification and helping operators mitigate potential hazards before they escalated.
Through its modular design and advanced tooling capabilities, the VY150 successfully performed a variety of underwater intervention tasks, including equipment installation, positioning, cleaning, inspection, and minor repair operations.
To meet the demanding requirements of deepwater oil and gas operations, VVLAI deployed the VY150 Work-Class ROV, a versatile subsea intervention platform designed for inspection, maintenance, and underwater engineering applications.
